Abstract
LaPorte School is an Early Childhood through 8th grade building located in Illinois. The Change Leadership Plan examines the level of community involvement at the school and utilizes the information to determine the necessary steps to increase it. To evaluate the authentic community involvement at LaPorte School, a mixed-method approach was utilized; educators and parents were surveyed and interviewed to determine community involvement. The study determined that community members seem content with the amount of participation they have with the school and educators only use parents for things like field trips and planning parties. It is this researcher’s opinion that the school and district need to educate the entire school-wide community regarding the importance of authentic community involvement.
