National Louis University Course Catalogs

The course catalog collection provides valuable information about the history of National Louis, past courses taught and faculty, early childhood education, and also provides information on the Kindergarten Movement in the late 19th Century and early 20th Century.National Louis University first began as Miss Harrison’s Kindergarten Training School in 1886. The NLU Course Catalog collection dates back to 1890, when the school focused on training Kindergarten teachers and was named the Chicago Kindergarten Training School. Since then, the curriculum has expanded and has undergone name changes including: the Chicago Kindergarten College (1893-1912), the National Kindergarten College (1912-1917), the National Kindergarten and Elementary College (1917-1930), the National College of Education (1930-1990), and National Louis University (current).
