Abstract
In Finnish early childhood education and care, many changes have been occurring in recent years. The most important change has been the definition of the goals of early childhood education and care in the Act on Early Childhood Education and Care. Pursuant to that Act, national core curriculum for early childhood education and care is a national regulation. What does all this mean to a person who works in early childhood education and care? How is that core curriculum implemented at the local level? And how is that local curriculum formed? The focus of this article is the curriculum process from the point of view of the City of Turku. The article also gives some “explanation” for Finnish early childhood education and care.
